A few thoughts on worship:

The Creator God knows His creation.  He knows that we are created to worship—we are beings of worship.  Which means we will worship something. 

However, there is nothing in the universe worthy of our worship except the Living God who created and loves us.  So worshiping anything else actually demeans us.  And the Lord has known this since before Time.

He doesn't tell us to worship Him for His benefit; He does it for our benefit.  It's because of His great love.

Whenever someone is able to enter into a place of worship, it gives them a little more courage to trust the Lord just that much more.  And I love to see that spark of love and trust for the Lord Jesus light up and grow in the hearts of His beloved ones.  Worship is one of the many ways in which the Lord accomplishes this in us.

It's the reason I'm here.

Practical notes:

I am able to lead worship alone or with a team.  I use an acoustic guitar, electronic pickup, 1/4 inch output.  I am quite adept technically so please email me with any technical questions or specifications.

When working with a team, I don't try to practice the music, per sé, but try instead to practice the worship.  It's more important for the team to be able to enter a place of worship together than it is to get all the transitions right.  For us to lead the congregation into worship, we must be able to get there together ourselves.

However, low-quality performance will actually distract the congregation from worshiping, so it's important to have capable musicians/vocalists.  But again, the heart is more important than the talent.
